The following blog is dedicated to stories of hope, need and possibilities as we deal with crisis response in relation to the hurricanes. Please share your stories from your local churches and communities. We look forward to hearing from you.

There are people who know the definition of 'serving others'. Many can face a storm without fear, and do the job that God calls us all to do.

My daughter, who just graduated from Pharmacy school, told of many of her friends who were going to the MS coast to face the storm with those who could not leave the area. There career calling was going to be put to the test. Taking their air-mattress and supplies, they really didn't know what was facing them.

Thanks be to God that there are young people who know how to help those who are in a need of help through a storm! Thank goodness that this storm was not as destructive as expected. . . .

In every circumstances of life...
God uses it only for GOOD.
If there were not storms, we would only see the sunny side of life.

A lady in the storm had her roof blown partially off. Waiting for an official person to 'tarp it', became a long wait. My cousin, the good person he is, saw a blue tarp, got it himself, and HELPED someone in desperate need. But, because of his good deed...he was arrested and put in jail for 'not going by man's rule'. This act of kindness was 'bad' in man's eyes, but in God's eyes, this was the right thing to do for another child of God. What another example of 'giving' ones self. SO, through storms... good comes out of any situation WHEN God is there...

Working at a dental office, I was going to take toothbrushes to a hurricane shelter. Surely, someone had forgotten their toothbrush in the rush? How many times in the past had I done that one thing...forgot!

So many times we FORGET what is really important in life. We go happily along with our daily schedules thinking only of ourselves and not worrying about the things that really matter to others and GOD.

To my surprise, the clergy friend on the other end of the phone said to me...'we have enough toothbrushes'. That one statement reasurred me that 'they were taken care of'.

I FEEL so much better today knowing that my friends from the coastal area are being taken care of.....even to the smallest need of a toothbrush! And, this meant to me, that there was enough 'paste' to keep this group together.

As a church family...I see that we
are more prepared to meet the needs of others through the storms. Thanks be to
GOD...that when I'm in a storm, friends like these will take care of me! Hopefully I won't FORGET again.

Oh my goodness... he didn't say "thank-you"!!!

Coming home from work yesterday, I approached a man at the red light on "County Line Road". His cardboard self made sign read something like "need help..Hurricane victim". Trying to respond, I realized that I didn't have any money! BUT, on my car seat was a pop-tart. "I bet he is hungry", I thought. Presenting him some help, he didn't say thank you.
"WHAT!!! How dare him not to be grateful"....Then the thought hit me, "I bet no one taught him.
Maybe he did not take Manners 101!"

Then I prayed, "thank you GOD for supplying all of my daily needs and giving me the opportunity to help a child of yours." I didn't need those calories anyway! AMEN

GUSTAV has come and left.
Thanks to God, my friends are safe, and blessings are felt.

We lift in prayer, so many who were hurt, hearts broken, and lost their place of work and home.
Oh, how I thank you God, that I didn't lose in the storm, my car, my plants, or my cell phone!

My God hears our prayers, I saw one answered today.
Seeing the unique rainbow in the sky, reminds me that all storms WILL go away.

We need to prepare for IKE, he is coming this way
On our knees, right now...we should begin to pray! amen

A friend stated that she got some comfort by reading these comments. She faced storm damage..and I love my friend...!
So, my daily posts have been to those at a time when a word of encouragement is needed.

EVERYONE goes through storms of some form, when least expected: Wind, water, rain, loneliness, rejection, and grief.

It depends on WHO we truly depend on through these storms. We can always trust in the one who will be there for us and take care of our daily needs. I can turst in my heavenly Father to be right by my side when I need him the most.

And, that is MY BEST FRIEND.

Here comes the SUN...!

After any storm, there are 'sunny days'. The rainbow in the sky, reminds us of the promises God makes to His children, that He is with us. And with God by our side, we do not have to fear...because, there is always HOPE for a life full of GOOD NEWS.

Hello, is anyone there?

Storms are scary. Personally being in several, I have had the feeling of being alone. The darkest of the night with the lack of electricity, gives a helpless feeling that can't be forgotten. But, when all seems hopeless, there is a calming voice that can be heard over the roaring winds. God give me the realization and reassurance that HE is with me. God promises that, 'I will be with you until the end'. . . WE are never alone, if we believe and trust. Hello? Yes, I will....

My friends had failed to purchase a generator again. Another storm was predicted and the thought of "doing without" became another realization. Wonder what will be said when storms come to our lives and we're not ready? If only we had a generator...If only we knew God. If only...

Some people have more storm stories to share than others.
Thanks be to God that I'm a surviver and have much to share with other Christian friends.

(I dedicate this comment to my friend, Megan, who lost her life in Katrina.)

What a friend we have in Jesus.....

Being aware of Katrina approaching with a strong force, the choice to stay on the coast was evident. Beneath the shreds of wood, broken glass, and mangled steel, was found the body of a woman known as daughter, sister, and friend.

Her life will be remembered by not giving up for what she believed in. Her decision to stay wasn't the smart thing to do for her safety. Found close to her, beneath a pile of garbage, was her best friend alive. What a friend to stick with you during a storm. What a friend....What?
